Beat by half a wheel length even though I lead out the sprint for one lap to go. Did alot of attacking during the race. Surprised that Tood, Aaron and Jon did so well. Glad you could help out Tood and Jon!!

After getting blown out of the 3/4 race, I decided I better jump in the 4/5s for more practice in the corners. Tym's registration guy gave me a deal I couldn't turn down - $10 for the 2nd race. So I found myself, once again, charging into the 4 corners of the Delaware course. The 4/5s felt almost easy in comparison to the 3/4 race. So I was surprised to see that my average speed was over 25mph - the exact same average I had in the 3/4 race!? I'm not sure what the difference was, but everything felt better the second time around.

Chris Bean made a beautiful move to get away with 3 laps to go. He almost held the field off for the win, but got slowed up by lapped traffic on the last lap and was nipped at the line for 3rd.

What a fun race! This is the first 3-4 crit. I have ever finished. It was supposed to be 25 minutes + 2 laps on a 1k course. Somehow, we all ended up racing for 34 minutes. Go figure.. I had a rather painful race, but I'm happy with my results. I am amazed at what the human body can tolerate. Here are my frightening heartrate stats.

HR
33:12 minutes above 190
10 seconds below 160
average hr = 199
max hr = 216

I think it should be evident that it was a fast hard race. At least it wasn't another one of those long, tiresome road races.

In good position into the second to last turn. Tried to take the inside line and got cut off - dumb move! Hit the brakes hard and skidded across the street. Stayed upright but finished in the back of the field.
